[Day-4] From Barcelona to Granada: Renfe Tips & The Golden Night of Alhambra 🚂✨

✨ [Day-4] The highlight of my trip: Alhambra Palace glowing at night.

Today is Day 4 of my solo adventure through Spain, and it is a big transition day. I am leaving the artistic energy of Barcelona behind and heading south to Granada, a city where the air is filled with exotic Islamic history and the scent of orange blossoms. Here is my journey from the train tracks to the magical viewpoints.

🚕 Early Morning Strategy: Choosing 'Free Now' over Uber

My journey began while the city was still asleep. I woke up at 5:00 AM to catch my high-speed train. 🥱
Travel Tip: In Spain, I found the Free Now (Freenow) app to be much more reliable and often cheaper than Uber. 📱 The dispatch was instant, and I reached Barcelona Sants Station safely in just 5 minutes. It was a stress-free start to what could have been a frantic morning.

🧳 Survival Guide for Barcelona Sants Station
Catching a Renfe (AVE) train requires a bit of preparation. Unlike many other European stations, Sants has a mandatory X-ray security check for all luggage. 🛡️
The Golden Rule: Arrive at least 40–50 minutes early. The lines can get unexpectedly long.

Breakfast Tip: Most cafes in the station open later in the morning. Since I knew I’d be hungry, I prepared my bread and juice the night before. This small step saved me from a "hangry" 6-hour ride! 🥐🧃

🚂 Riding the Renfe: The Luggage Race
I booked my ticket through Omio, which made the process seamless. But the real challenge is on the train itself. 🚂
Luggage Racks: They fill up within seconds! As soon as the platform (Via) number appears on the screen, head down immediately. Securing a spot for your suitcase right away ensures you can spend the 6-hour journey relaxing and watching the beautiful Spanish countryside roll by. 🌾🛤️

🍕 A Taste of Granada: Free Tapas Culture
Granada has a magical tradition: order a drink, and you get a free tapa. 🥘
The Experience: I ordered a cold Alhambra Beer, and it was served with a delicious, savory dish on the house. Combined with a wood-fired Margherita Pizza, it was the ultimate comfort meal after a long day of travel. 🍺🍕

✨ Highlight: The Golden Night of Alhambra
The crown jewel of my day was the night view from Mirador de San Nicolás. 🏛️🌙
Watching the Alhambra Palace glow with a warm golden light against the deep blue night sky was a spiritual experience. It is a view that feels like a dream you never want to wake up from. If you visit Granada, this sunset-to-night transition is non-negotiable.

🕌 Exotic Ending: Tetería Restaurante Kasbah
On my way down from the viewpoint, I visited Tetería Kasbah, a traditional tea house.
Atmosphere: Stepping inside felt like being transported to Morocco. 🇲🇦 The glow of mosaic lamps and the Arabic decor created a mystical atmosphere that made the exotic tea taste even better. It was the perfect ending to my first night in Granada. 🫖✨
