[Day-6] Granada: Unexpected Friendships and a Golden Sunset Mission

[Day-6] The highlight of Day 6: The Alhambra glowing like gold under the moody night sky. ✨
My sixth day in Spain was a rollercoaster of emotions—from a morning health scare to finding unexpected friendships and hidden historical treasures. Here is how I spent my final, unforgettable day in Granada.
🚑 Morning Emergency: A Lesson in Proper GearI woke up on my sixth day in Spain to find a large, dark purple bruise on the top of my foot. 🚨 It was a shocking sight, and I immediately started blaming myself for not packing more comfortable walking shoes. I had underestimated Granada’s bumpy, relentless cobblestone streets, and my feet had finally reached their breaking point. 😢Feeling anxious about being injured in a foreign country, I contacted the KOREA 119 Emergency Medical Consultation Service. The medical professional gave me a clear diagnosis: I had simply walked too much in uncomfortable shoes. It was a painful but necessary reminder that for a solo traveler, listening to your body and wearing the right gear is the most important rule of all.☕️ An Unexpected Companion & Our Morning RoutineJust as I was feeling a bit down about my foot, a heartwarming turn of events occurred at the hostel. My new roommate kindly asked about my plans for the day, and we naturally decided to head out together! 🤝 Sometimes, these unexpected connections are what make a solo trip truly rich and unforgettable. Before starting our official tour, we revisited the cozy Malamiga cafe from yesterday to recharge our energy. ☕🥐 Sipping a warm Cortado and sharing fresh, buttery pastries made me forget about the pain in my foot for a while. After our caffeine fix, we headed toward Granada Cathedral to meet up with another friend, feeling a renewed sense of excitement for the day ahead.

🌳 Discovery: The Serene Monastery of San JerónimoWhile we were wandering through the historic streets, we accidentally stumbled upon the Monastery of San Jerónimo. 🏛️ It wasn't in our original itinerary, but the quiet grandeur of the building drew us inside. The moment I stepped into the courtyard, I was completely mesmerized. A beautiful grove of orange trees was spread out under the brilliant, golden Spanish sun. 🍊☀️ The vibrant orange fruit against the backdrop of the ancient, weathered stone walls was so exotic and peaceful. I stood there in silence for a long time, just watching the sunlight filter through the leaves. It was a hidden sanctuary in the middle of a busy city.

🏰 Finding a New View of the Alhambra: A Sight to BeholdThis time, we decided to explore a different perspective of the city, seeking a fresh vantage point of the Alhambra. Even though I had seen the palace before, this new spot offered a completely different vibe! 🏛️✨As soon as we arrived, the Alhambra looked so stunning under the bright afternoon sun that it felt like I was seeing it for the very first time. we just sat there for a while, soaking in the view and chilling out. It was a truly healing moment, where time seemed to slow down just for us.

🥘 Black Paella & Cold Beer: The Perfect Terrace LunchAfter feeding our souls with the majestic view, we headed out for the lunch we’d been waiting for. 🍴 The weather was so flawless that we didn't hesitate to grab a seat on an outdoor terrace. We ordered Black Paella, a few assorted tapas, and of course, an ice-cold beer! 🍺 We were so hungry that we finished every single bite the moment the food arrived. I totally forgot to take photos because it was so delicious, but trust me, it was a 10/10 meal! 😋

✨ The Sunset Mission at San Miguel AltoAs the sun began to dip, we hiked up to the San Miguel Alto viewpoint, the highest point in Granada. ⛰️- The Beer Opener Crisis: We had prepared a little picnic with Jamon and bottled beers, but once we reached the top, we realized we didn't have a bottle opener! 😂 We spent quite a while wandering around the rocky summit, searching for sharp bricks or any piece of metal to pop the caps.
- The Victory: Finally, we found a sturdy piece of iron and managed to open the beers. That first sip of cold beer, while watching the majestic Alhambra glow under the moonlight, was absolutely priceless. 🍺✨

Afternoon drinks with a perfect view of the Alhambra. Can't get any better than this! 🥂

🍷 A Rainy Night Finale Tatas Tour
It was raining and the weather wasn't great,
but since it was my last night in Granada,
I couldn’t miss out on the famous tapas culture.
I headed to 'La Riviera,' a place I really wanted to visit.
My companion had already been there yesterday,
but he was kind enough to join me again.
Such a thoughtful gesture!📍 First Stop: La RivieraSince it was my last night in Granada, I couldn't miss out on the legendary La Riviera. Even though it was a rainy night, the place was packed with locals and travelers alike. 🍺- The Experience: My companion had already visited yesterday, but he was kind enough to join me again—a gesture I truly appreciated! We ordered their famous fried calamari and a savory meat dish.
- The Drink: We paired our tapas with Clara, a refreshing Spanish lemon beer. Watching the rain fall on the cobblestone streets through the window while chatting in such a lively atmosphere made the night feel incredibly special. 🍋🍺
Cheers to a wonderful night in Granada with refreshing bers and great company. 🍺

📍 Second Stop: La Nueva BodegaRight after our first round, we moved to a nearby spot called La Nueva Bodega. This place had a much more intimate and cozy vibe compared to the first bar. 🍷- The Random Tapas: The charm of this place is that the tapas are served randomly! 😆 It was so much fun waiting to see what the chef would surprise us with. We ordered two glasses of Tinto de Verano (red wine with soda) and waited with excitement.
- The Highlight: Our surprise tapas was grilled pork served on fresh bread with a side of soft French fries. 🍟 But the real highlight was the bartender—he was incredibly friendly and even surprised us with a warm greeting in Korean! 🇰🇷 It was the perfect, heartwarming ending to my Granada food tour.

Spanish tortilla and red wine: the perfect pair for a rainy night in Granada.
🇰🇷 A Taste of Home: Sharing Warmth in a Far-off Land
To finish the night, we held a "Late-Night Ramen Party" back at the hostel. 🍜 I used my portable stainless steel kettle from Korea to boil clean water, and we paired the spicy ramen with stir-fried kimchi and instant rice. 🍚 Sharing a warm bowl of ramen in a far-off land while swapping travel stories was the ultimate healing experience. It was the most perfect combo and ending to my journey. ✨
