How to Experience the Magic of Barcelona
My one-month journey
through Spain and Portugal
has officially begun! ✈️
Due to jet lag and the excitement
of my first European trip,
I woke up at 4:00 AM. 🥱
After a quick breakfast at the hostel,
I headed out to explore
the architectural wonders of Barcelona.
Here is my curated 1-day itinerary
for an unforgettable experience.

🎨 Morning: The World of Gaudi

(Guided Van Tour)
To fully understand the genius
of Antoni Gaudí,
I joined an in-depth guided tour
starting at 7:45 AM.

🏠 Casa Batlló (House of Bones)
Inspired by the ocean,
Casa Batlló is a masterpiece
of organic curves and vibrant mosaics. 🌊
The transition of blue tiles
from dark to light is designed
for uniform lighting—a true genius!

(Whispering) A Hidden Gem! 🤫
Inside Casa Batlló,
you can actually find
an architectural blueprint
featuring Antoni Gaudí's
original handwritten signature! ✍️
Seeing the master's own handwriting
felt like a direct connection
to the history of this masterpiece.
Make sure to look closely
during your visit! ✨
🏢 Casa Milà (La Pedrera)
The wavy stone facade
of Casa Milà is breathtaking. 🏛️
Learning about "Human Gaudi"
—his humble lifestyle and devotion—
made this landmark feel even more special. ✨
Wavy stone facade and unique wrought-iron balconies of Casa Mila (La Pedrera) designed by Antoni Gaudi.
🦎 Park Güell: A Fairy Tale Garden
(Nature Meets Architecture)
Walking through Park Güell
felt like stepping into
a surreal fairy tale. 🍭
Gaudi designed this park
to harmonize with nature,
using organic shapes
instead of straight lines.
  • The Hansel and Gretel Houses:
    The entrance pavilions look
    just like gingerbread houses!
  • The Hypostyle Room:
    86 Doric columns support
    the massive terrace above. 🏛️
  • The Lucky Salamander:
    I managed to touch the
    famous mosaic lizard (El Drac).
    Even though its front leg
    was bandaged for repair, 🤕
    I touched the back leg
and made a wish for my journey!

⛪ Sagrada Família: The Eternal Masterpiece
(A Must-See Lifetime Experience)
The Sagrada Família
is the absolute crown jewel
of Barcelona’s skyline.
Standing in front of it,
I was overwhelmed by
the sheer scale and
intricate stone carvings.
  • Nativity vs. Passion Facade:
    I learned the stark difference
    between the life-filled
    Nativity facade and
    the somber Passion facade.
  • A Forest of Stone:
    The columns inside are
    designed to look like
    giant trees reaching
    for the sky. 🌳

⚠️ Crucial Booking Tip!
Please, learn from my mistake!
Tickets are NOT sold at the gate.
They sell out weeks in advance. 🎟️
I couldn't get a ticket
on the day of my tour,
so I had to come back
on the very last day
of my trip just to go inside.
Book your time slot early!

🥘 Lunch: Authentic Squid Ink Paella at 'EL GLOP'

For lunch, I visited 'El Glop',
a local favorite. 🥘
I ordered the Squid Ink Paella
and a refreshing Clara (lemon beer). 🍺
The secret weapon here is
the Alioli (garlic sauce). 🧄
Mixing a bit of Alioli with the rice
enhances the flavor significantly! 😆

🎻 Evening: Gothic Quarter

Musical Night Walk
As the sun set, I joined
a unique Musical Walking Tour
at the Gran Teatre del Liceu. 🏛️
Elegant night view of the Gran Teatre del Liceu opera house with glowing lights in the Gothic Quarter.
The guide played curated music
through our headsets that matched
the medieval atmosphere perfectly. 🎶
The highlight was a sudden rain. ☔
The sound of a street violinist
blended with the rain
and the golden streetlights. 🎻✨
It was a cinematic moment
that I will never forget.
